Project One Sky was set up by Dr. Colm Fallon (https://www.linkedin.com/in/colmfallon/) in 2018 as a response to the need for wellbeing facilitators in schools. He is certified to teach mindfulness for wellbeing in schools, and has completed the ‘Introduction to Children First’ e-learning programme for teachers.
Details of the course can be found in the POS_TU.doc descriptor document (supplied); in general nine different speakers deliver content on various wellbeing topics. Each speaker is an experienced facilitator of workshops in post-primary schools.
The course has been developed in accordance with Circular Letter 0055/2019 (https://www.education.ie/en/Circulars-and-Forms/Active-Circulars/cl0055_2019.pdf) section 2.6, which allows for units developed by outside agencies and organisations, and with the Wellbeing Policy Statement and Framework for Practice.
As all aspects of the course are pre-recorded, speakers are not required to be vetted; however, the relevant requirements for external facilitators as per Circular Letter 0042/2018 (https://www.education.ie/en/Circulars-and-Forms/Active-Circulars/cl0042_2018.pdf) are met. As such,
- All speakers are qualified to work within the specific area of content
- Teachers are given full access to the course material
- Full details of the course are supplied
- These details allow for the programme to be evaluated by students and teachers with regard to the subject matter, messages communicated, methodology and proposed learning outcome.Â
- Parents are made aware of the course content before delivery.
GDPR
This article is written in accordance with EU GDPR article 12. Course participation requires submission of two homework types per student.
- Student’s journal. The student’s journal includes reflection by the student around various topics. This data is not gathered by the company – the student’s journal is submitted to the teacher in the usual way.
- Quiz. At the end of each lesson, a multiple choice quiz is given, and the data is processed in order for the teacher to be able to monitor progress, and for the student to progress to the next lesson. The data is processed according to EU GDPR articles 5,6 & 9 and is destroyed upon course completion by the student.
- Consent is obtained by both parents and students, in accordance with EU GDPR article 7.
- Data is protected according to EU article 8.

This Data Protection Statement provides information about the ways in which Project One Sky (‘the Company’) collects, stores and uses personal data relating to individuals (data subjects). This Data Protection Statement relates to personal data received by the Company where data subjects contact, or request information from, the Company directly, and also personal data received by the Company indirectly, and as set out below.

Who we are

The personal data that we process includes (i) basic personal information, such as a data subject’s name / surname; the school a data subject attends; (ii) contact information, such as a data subject’s email address; and (iii) any other personal data that is provided to the Company during the course of the performance of its functions.Â
Special category data
The Company does not process special category data such as personal data relating to racial or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or philosophical beliefs; trade union membership; genetic data; biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person; data concerning health; and data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation.
HOW DOES THE COMPANY COLLECT PERSONAL DATA?
REGISTRATION:
For the purposes of access to the course, user registration is required. Data required is first name and surname, and email address.
QUIZZES:

HOW LONG DOES THE COMPANY RETAIN PERSONAL DATA?Â
The retention periods for personal data held by the Company are based on the requirements set out in ‘QUIZZES’ above, and normally last less than a year.
