Youthreach Program

We’re very proud of our partnership with Youthreach centres. We’ve grown from delivering to 2 centres in 2019, to 13 centres last year, and we’re set to grow again this year. One of our speakers is a Youthreach graduate, who has since gone on to become a wellbeing researcher in Maynooth University, but that’s not the only reason we’re popular.

The focus of our course is on improving wellbeing, living according to your unique skills and talents, and living a good life – something that interests everyone but may resonate particularly strongly with YR students and tutors.

We’ve spoken to coordinators, tutors and students who’ve already completed the course, and it seems the main reason for it’s popularity is down to the conversations held in the classrooms. We ran the course as an online course (i.e. study from home course) during the pandemic and the feedback was really good, but the benefits of the teacher/tutor delivering the course in class can’t be overstated. The YR tutors we’ve worked with have really engaged with the content, and so the feedback has been extremely positive – see below.

If you’re interested in running the course in your centre please contact us in the usual manner. We’d love to hear from you!

“We successfully delivered the course in the classroom and found it very rewarding. The tutor’s guides were easy to follow, and the discussions were very engaging and informative; our favourite was truth telling. Our students completed the course including the projects at the end, and all received their certificates. There was an issue at the beginning of the course when they thought it was more online speakers but as soon as they realised what it was they were happy to participate.” – Rachel Fleming, Kingscourt Youthreach

“I completed Project One Sky back in November 2020. It was one of the best things I have ever done. Before taking on the course, I didn’t know a whole lot about different types of wellbeing or how I can improve my own wellbeing. Project One Sky really opened my eyes. I learned so many new things that I don’t think I would have learned otherwise. Not only was it helpful, but it was so much fun to complete a module every week. I really enjoyed the videos that would take me through the topic, and the activities afterwards were also really enjoyable. My favourite part of Project One Sky was the project at the end. There were so many presentation options to choose from which was amazing. I was able to get creative with my project, I liked that there wasn’t a set structure like there would be in the classroom! I learned a lot of new skills that I still use after completing the course. Project One Sky is something every young person should consider completing. It has made a massive difference to my wellbeing and I think it would make a difference for others too. I now look at things differently and it has really helped me in the long run. I highly recommend Project One Sky!” – Student, Leitrim Youthreach
